Ashburton late night shopping

I was really excited about photographing my towns late night shopping last night. I get really festive around this time of year, and late night shopping encompasses all things merry and sense of community you have in Ashburton, so, I was looking forward to capturing it all on camera and getting artsy with it too.

However, this year was just, well, flat. Everywhere is normally busy, and the main road through the center of town is shut off, there are stalls and mulled wine, chestnuts, kids visiting Santa in his mobile grotto, loads... There were people milling in and out of shops and a couple of stalls, but it was no way near as lively as it normally is.

Because of this, all the idea's I had had in my head were whipped right away. Instead, I walked around the town center, taking photo's of the shop window's and the Christmas decorations the owners had put up.

Hoping for better on Tuesday next week in a town down the road!

Wedding in the morning with Gareth again! Excited :D

Lauren and Ben's wedding

Gareth asked me to help him out again a week after the first wedding!

This one was a little closer to home and required a bit less driving and a bit more lie in! The grounds surrounding Reed Hall (a part of Exeter Universities, Steatham Campus) were beautiful, and would have been perfect to use for the group and couple shots, had the weather not been so horrible! I was pouring it down nearly all day, and the dark clouds meant that hardly any natural light made it's way inside either. However, we were lucky that the bride didn't mind going outside whilst the down pour subsided to a drizzle (as long as her hubby held the umbrella for her.) This week certainly taught me that wedding photographers have to be adaptable!

Due to the weather and lack of light, a lot of my duties this week involved helping Gareth out by holding the flash, after all, it's his photo's that count!

I did manage to get a few shots that I was happy with, but not nearly as many as last week!

I've been invited to do another wedding on the December 15th, so fingers crossed for better weather!

Definitely look at the work of Gareth William's if you need a wedding photographer!
